-20.6 degrees F (-29.2 C) in southern New Hampshire US. Fierce winds all night, unknown stuff banging around. It felt as though the planet were trying to kill us. Which, as humans, we probably deserve at this point.

Quit reading: Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver 📚it’s just too brutal. I know all the abuse and drug addiction is real but I couldn’t keep reading it. So I will simply admire this novel from afar.

Nice article about the good skills learned as a theatre kid. I wasn’t one until a bit in college but admired the kids who were theatre kids in high school.
Finished reading: The Galaxy, and the Ground Within (Wayfarers, #4) by Becky Chambers 📚Such a sweet, fun sci fi romp, like all of her books.
Currently reading: The Whalebone Theatre by Joanna Quinn 📚
Finished reading: Chants Democratic by Sean Wilentz 📚Excellent American labor history 1780-1850 book. But depressing because we’ve been fighting financial inequality with the same language for 200 years.
The Town plow truck slid into a power pole last night. Driver and truck are fine but given the number of outages due to snow in my state (NH), it may be a while before we have electricity and internet again.

Finished reading: Lark Ascending by Silas House 📚Similar to Station Eleven but clumsier.
Finished reading: The Last Graduate by Naomi Novik 📚I found parts tedious and way too much plot was recapitulated from book 1 AND I enjoyed it. Looking forward to book 3.
Finished reading: Zorrie by Laird Hunt 📚A sweet midwestern novel.
Finished reading: The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner by James Hogg 📚I think what’s interesting is the perspective on religion in its time.
Finished reading: Ducks by Kate Beaton 📚a wonderful graphic novel. I used to visit Cape Breton and marveled at the stories of people working in Alberta. She tells the truth.

📺 Slow Horses (2022)
I watched both seasons while sick in bed with COVID two weeks ago. I rarely watch any TV so was surprised at how much I enjoyed Slow Horses. I’m looking forward to Season 3.

One more chart because to me it’s interesting how clearly Heart Rate Variability shows me getting sick and then recovering.
My trackers are telling me I’m through my bout of COVID.
Day 6 of COVID
I’ve been in bed this whole time. It looks like maybe I’m done with the fever, according to Apple Watch, so maybe I can start doing a bit more. Our weather is terrible, so it’s no problem to keep taking it easy.
