Finished reading: 3 Shades of Blue by James Kaplan πQuite enjoyable non-fiction about Jazz, especially between about 1945 and 1965. It gave me lots of pointers toward excellent albums to put on my playlist.

First swim today! May 22 is about the earliest I’ve ever been able to take a real swim in our lake. The water was cold but not frosty. It’s already time to grab a hold of summer – it’s always over too soon here in New England.
Finished reading: The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller πMy continuing theme of retellings of Greek Myths. A wonderful novel focused on the love between Achilles and Patroclus. Well done.

Finished reading: Reader, Come Home by Maryanne Wolf πI love this book. I learned stuff about the science of reading and the brain that I had never imagined. Also useful for its advice about mediating our digital culture and maintaining our deep reading skills.
Finished reading: Little Failure by Gary Shteyngart πWe read this for our Library book group. An interesting meditation on culture, bad behavior, generational trauma, and growing up as an immigrant. Worth reading.
