Finished reading: The Secret of Santa Vittoria by Robert Crichton 📚A WWII novel that is part funny and part tragic. I realized my parents had named our childhood cat after the main character, Bombolino. Another insight into the awfulness of WWII.

Finished reading: The Correspondents by Judith Mackrell 📚I greatly enjoyed this non-fiction book about 6 female war correspondents who reported on WWII. It brought home to me the awfulness of that war. I was born in 1960, 15 years after WWII ended. But it was not spoken of.

I figured out how to put my iPad above my iMac, a la @Burk. I’m running Sidecar in this example, where I’m running Zoom on the iPad while I attend a webinar. This gives me my entire iMac free to do everything else I want to do.

Finished reading: My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante 📚I’m committed to the entire Neopolitan Quartet of books. Judging by this one, it’s going to be intense. She writes so well about being a girl growing up in the early 1960s in a very macho Italy.

Visitors! My 27-year-old step-son and 3 of his friends are here from The Netherlands! It’s so exciting to have houseguests and to be cooking for more than two people. Korean chicken last night. Pizza tonight, thanks to a friend with one of those Ooni things, or the other one.

Finished reading: Silverview by John Le Carré 📚another quick but rewarding read. Not the best Le Carre ever but lovely to read after mourning his death a year ago.

Finished reading: Bruno’s Challenge by Martin Walker 📚a tasty pleasure. Quick and easy short stories about a cooking policeman in rural France.

Quit reading: The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon 📚the main character is awful and I don’t want to read about her anymore. Too bad, because I loved the author’s prior novel.
