Finished reading: Because Our Fathers Lied by Craig McNamara ๐A book with personal resonance for me, as it has to do with growing up in Washington, DC with a parent in the federal government who is not always truthful.

Sort of finished reading: Heroes of the Frontier by Dave Eggers ๐ended up skimming through to the end. No likeable characters and I couldnโt see the value in further study of their flaws.

Finished reading: The Book of Form and Emptiness: A Novel by Ruth Ozeki ๐not as good as I had hoped. Given its weighty topics, I wanted a deeper treatment.

Finished reading: The Healing Power of Story by Annie Brewster ๐A good idea, about how storytelling can help patients with serious illnesses, but somehow the book comes across as juvenile and self-serving.
Finished reading: Fixing Your Scrum by Ryan Ripley ๐an excellent book for anyone working on an Agile team.

Finished reading: The Secret of Santa Vittoria by Robert Crichton ๐A WWII novel that is part funny and part tragic. I realized my parents had named our childhood cat after the main character, Bombolino. Another insight into the awfulness of WWII.
Finished reading: The Correspondents by Judith Mackrell ๐I greatly enjoyed this non-fiction book about 6 female war correspondents who reported on WWII. It brought home to me the awfulness of that war. I was born in 1960, 15 years after WWII ended. But it was not spoken of.

Finished reading: My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante ๐I’m committed to the entire Neopolitan Quartet of books. Judging by this one, it’s going to be intense. She writes so well about being a girl growing up in the early 1960s in a very macho Italy.

Finished reading: Silverview by John Le Carrรฉ ๐another quick but rewarding read. Not the best Le Carre ever but lovely to read after mourning his death a year ago.
Finished reading: Bruno’s Challenge by Martin Walker ๐a tasty pleasure. Quick and easy short stories about a cooking policeman in rural France.
Quit reading: The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon ๐the main character is awful and I donโt want to read about her anymore. Too bad, because I loved the authorโs prior novel.
