Finished reading: Articulate by Rachel Kolb ๐Ÿ“šExcellent non-fiction by a Deaf author about her relationship to speaking out loud. Quite thought-provoking, about language, speaking, writing, signing and more.

Finished reading: The Boy on the Bridge by M. R. Carey ๐Ÿ“šNot as good as “The Girl with All the Gifts”.

Finished reading: Revenge of the Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell ๐Ÿ“šDisliked it. There were some interesting points but too much “I’m brilliant” by the author.

Finished reading: Death of the Author by Nnedi Okorafor ๐Ÿ“šinteresting and fun, good twist at the end.

Finished reading: Someone You Can Build a Nest In by John Wiswell ๐Ÿ“šLoved it! Weird and wonderful romantasy with the monster as the main character.

Finished reading: The Correspondent by Virginia Evans ๐Ÿ“šWould be a good bookgroup novel. I greatly enjoyed reading it. In hindsight, it’s a bit trite and predictable but I looked forward to every moment of reading.

Finished reading: Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar ๐Ÿ“šExcellent novel, reads like 2025 in a nutshell. Interesting characters, sweet love story which might not be traditional and makes perfect sense, and a good story of addiction and recovery.

Currently reading: The Kurdish Bike by Alesa Lightbourne ๐Ÿ“š

Finished reading: A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher ๐Ÿ“šNot my favorite by this author, a little too close to her horror style. But she is so good at characters, pacing, suspense, and humor. Best not to read this one if you like horses.

Finished reading: The Safekeep by Yael van der Wouden ๐Ÿ“šI like the ideas in this novel but not the actual novel. The characters were somehow flat. It’s about 1960s Netherlands, dealing with the country’s good and bad history of helping/hurting Jewish people during the war and afterwards.

Finished reading: A Marriage at Sea by Sophie Elmhirst ๐Ÿ“šTrue but kinda weird story of two dysfunctional people who sail, get shipwrecked and survive 100+ days on a raft, sail again, but then get bogged down with real life.

Quit reading: The Poppy War (The Poppy War, #1) by R.F. Kuang ๐Ÿ“šGave up even though I had put 14 days into it. Too violent, too endless. If I’d felt like I was learning something about Chinese history, I might have kept going.

Finished reading: A Great Reckoning by Louise Penny ๐Ÿ“šMy first Louise Penny book! A bit gruesome for my taste, but great characters and a fascinating Quebec setting.

Currently reading: A Marriage at Sea by Sophie Elmhirst ๐Ÿ“šOur December book club pick.

Finished reading: Air-Borne by Carl Zimmer ๐Ÿ“šGood though disturbing non-fiction about the science of airborne diseases and the mind-boggling stubbornness of the CDC to not acknowledge airborne transmission of COVID-19.
