Finished reading: Swordheart by T. Kingfisher ๐Ÿ“š Annoying but also very readable, to the point where I stayed up until 3 AM finishing it (ugh). Way too much “I love them but they couldn’t possibly care for me.” I guess this is a Rom-antasy? Some very fun characters, interesting world.

Finished reading: An Equal Music by Vikram Seth ๐Ÿ“š This is one of my favorite authors and this novel did not disappoint, even though I did not trust the narrator. It was interesting to learn quite a bit about chamber music, interesting to consider as I begin my second year of fiddle lessons.

Finished reading: 142 Ostriches by April Davila ๐Ÿ“šFun novel, sort of a coming-of-age story. Good characters, and you learn a lot about ostriches. The end is a bit of a muddle but I’m willing to forgive because it was a good ride.

Finished reading: The Mighty Red by Louise Erdrich ๐Ÿ“šMixed feelings. Overall, I liked it a lot. Some great characters. But there’s a terrible scene of horror where several teens die, too memorable. And the poor men in this book! So many die, or are emotionally wounded, or get sick.

Finished Reading ๐Ÿ“šCrying in H-Mart by Michelle Zauner. It’s ultimately a sad story of a young woman having to watch her mother die of a painful cancer. There’s a lot of sweetness and many descriptions of great Korean food. In so many families, mine included, we preserve culture through food.

Quit reading: Gnomon by Nick Harkaway ๐Ÿ“šunreadable for many reasons, including typographic choices that made reading on Kindle nearly impossible.

Finished reading: Parsons’ Mill by Timothy Lewontin ๐Ÿ“šnice but dated non-fiction about a young man who decides to take a job at a small lumber mill in Vermont. Good descriptions of a world that no longer exists.

Currently reading: Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner ๐Ÿ“šOur next Library book club read.

Finished reading: The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley ๐Ÿ“šFun, time-traveling novel with a bunch of twists. Provides a surprising amount of information about 18th-century Arctic explorers, too.

Finished reading: Solito by Javier Zamora ๐Ÿ“šSomewhat harrowing story of a 9-year-old’s journey from Guatemala to the US in 1999. Well-written and worth reading.

Finished reading: The Fragile Threads of Power by V ๐Ÿ“š I enjoyed the first trilogy set in this world, but I’m going to stop with this new series. Weirdly violent, and just more of the same in terms of plot and characters.
