Finished reading: Raising Hare by Chloe Dalton πŸ“šSweet non-fiction about a UK homeowner making friends with a hare.

Currently reading: Raising Hare by Chloe Dalton πŸ“šOur September book group selection.

Finished reading: The East Indian by Brinda Charry πŸ“šInteresting novel by a local NH author, about a boy from India who ends up in Virginia in the 1600s. Good plot, good characters, well-researched about the beginnings of slavery in America and medicine in the 17th century.

Finished reading: Dreadful by Caitlin Rozakis πŸ“ša decent, somewhat silly summer read. Fantasy about an evil wizard who loses his memory and thus forgets why he wanted to be evil.

Finished reading: Is a River Alive? by Robert Macfarlane πŸ“šI loved this one. While it’s not Macfarlane’s best, even less-than-perfect Macfarlane is head and shoulders above everyone else. Another book in my summer theme of ascribing rights to non-humans.

Finished reading: Small Town, Big Oil by David W. Moore πŸ“šHow residents of a coastal NH town in the 1970s successfully fought a Onassis-funded oil refinery. And striking parallels between the awful governor of that time and Trump.

Finished reading: World Without Us by Alan Weisman πŸ“šI didn’t finish this one but it’s definitely an interesting take on how the Earth would respond if all humans disappeared.

Finished reading: Spent by Alison Bechdel πŸ“šFun! Not quite as good as The Secret to Super Human Strength but still worth reading. Graphic novel.

Finished reading: Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree πŸ“šNot quite as good as Legends & Lattes but I like these characters and the world-building so it wan enjoyable summer read.

Finished reading: Mina’s Matchbox by Yoko Ogawa πŸ“šA gentle novel that has a lot to say. I want to read it again to further explore the symbolism in the story.

Finished reading: The Practice, the Horizon, and the Chain by Sofia Samatar πŸ“šSuch an interesting dystopian sci-fi novel. The Haves and the Have-nots portrayed in a brutal, thought-provoking way. I also liked The White Mosque by this author, a completely different book about Mennonites in E. Europe.

Finished reading: The City and Its Uncertain Walls by Haruki Murakami πŸ“šI’m not sure what this novel was about. Sometimes I thought it was about the act of writing a novel. But still worth reading, even though it confused me.

Currently reading: Is a River Alive? by Robert Macfarlane πŸ“šIn my current theme of legal rights for non-human entities, note that this includes rereading The Wizard of Earthsea.
